India's spice industry is expanding its wings in international market exponentially. In the months of April-June 2008, the export of different spices and its products have manifested a noticeable increase of 23% in value and quantity both.

As per estimation, India is producing more than 4 million tons of spice and is exporting nearly 180 types of spice products in almost 150 nations. The Spice Board, established in 1987, is the department working under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, which encourages the Indian spices exports.
Increasing Global Demand
As nations like Pakistan and China produces less chili, India's chili exports have touched the graph of 209,000 tons of exports during the period of 2007-08.
This rise is still on in the export performance of mint, chilli and other seed spices and Indian Spices Exporters have registered a thumping 41% growth in terms of rupee value during the span of April-December 2013.
India is termed as the land of spices, which are famous in domestic and international countries for their flavor. India is involved in the production of wide range of spices, including cardamoms, chilies, mustard, black pepper, poppy seed etc.
Government Initiative to Promote Indian Spices
The steps are initiated to make India as a hub for spices processing especially in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, Rajasthan etc. The Indian spice board has begun the farming of the organic turmeric, ginger and chili in the north-east states. For promoting the Indian spices on global spectrum, the spice board aims at setting 3 spices promotional centers at Dubai, Chicago and Europe also.
